'Each client is different and I believe they require bespoke and specific solutions to meet their particular commercial and financial needs. I achieve this by building close relationships with my clients, understanding their objectives and providing clear and pragmatic advice.'
Michael Avient has been providing both domestic and international tax advice since 1989 and has spent considerable time in both the Far East and Australia. With the increasing complexity of the UK tax system and the changes in approach regarding tax planning he has focussed on ensuring clients have a clear understanding of both opportunities and risks.
With HM Revenue & Customs' increased focus on enquiries and collection many more clients are finding themselves under scrutiny. Michael has significant experience in resolving both enquiries and complex tax investigations. Where resolution is not possible and it is appropriate Michael is well versed in the Tax Tribunal process.
Michael has held a number of senior roles within large firms but believes a more personal service is appropriate. Michael has written for both Taxation and Tax Journal (the leading tax professional publications in the UK) as well as other publications. He is also often asked to lecture on tax planning and enforcement.
